Alabama

In-person hearings may resume May 15, subject to the approval of each circuit's presiding circuit judge. Jury trials are suspended until September 14.

Alaska

All trial court proceedings are suspended through May 31.

Arizona

Arizona courts may transition to in-person proceedings beginning June 1, subject to the discretion of the presiding superior court judges in each county.

Arkansas

In-person proceedings of all types may resume beginning May 18, subject to the discretion of each presiding judge. The state's 10-person limit on gatherings applies to all proceedings, and video and audio conference proceedings are encouraged over in-person hearings.

California

Civil jury trials are suspended for 60 days and criminal trials suspended for 90 days, calculated from the day on which the trial date was set, or the last date on which the statutory deadline otherwise would have expired, whichever is longer.

Colorado

Generally, no jury summonses may be issued before July 6, though chief judges in the state may seek waiver of that directive if they can establish an alternative approach for a limited jury trial. 

Hearings on matters deemed essential are permitted.

Connecticut

All trials are suspended until further notice.

Florida

Hawaii

Generally, jury trials are suspended through May 29, or the conclusion of the state's declaration of emergency, whichever is sooner, unless otherwise ordered by a circuit's chief judge.

Idaho

Criminal trials are suspended through August 3. Civil trials are suspended through October 5.

Illinois

Courts may resume normal operations beginning June 1. Chief judges in each circuit are directed to implement procedures specific to their jurisdiction.

Indiana

Jury trials are suspended through July 1.

Iowa

Non-Jury trials suspended until July 13th. Jury trials suspended until September 14.

Kansas

There is no state-wide, set time for resumption of trials and non-essential proceedings. In counties subject to stay-at-home orders, teleconferencing should be used to perform essential court functions whenever possible. In counties without stay-at-home orders, chief judges are directed to work toward resuming broader-scale court operations.

Jury trials are suspended through August 1. Hearings, generally via teleconference, may resume June 1. Grand juries may convene.

Pursuant to ongoing plans to re-open courts, pilot jury trials may proceed on or after June 1.

Mississippi

In counties with two or fewer reported deaths from COVID-19, jurors may be summoned on or after May 18, though individual judges have the discretion to postpone such summonses until June 12. In all other counties, summonses will not be issued for return until June 15.

Missouri

Courts began a phased re-opening on May 4, with local jurisdictions given discretion on transitioning to broader operations.
