Smoker Could Have Quit Cigarettes in Time to Avoid COPD:  Defense in Tobacco Lawsuit

W. Ray Persons tells jurors Thomas Ryan was not addicted to cigarettes and could have quit smoking in time to prevent his respiratory disease. Ryan is suing Persons’ client, R.J. Reynolds, claiming that the tobacco manufacturer’s concealment of smoking’s dangers led to his nicotine addiction and COPD.
