In Cancer and COPD Tobacco Trial, Plaintiff’s Attorney Says Smoker Was “Hopelessly Addicted” to Nicotine

Steve Hammer tells jurors that his client, Ed Caprio, was so addicted to nicotine that he was unsuccessful in many attempts to quit smoking, even after being diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease 20 years ago. Reynolds, Philip Morris, Lorillard, and the Liggett Group, in this Engle progeny proceeding, claiming that their concealment of smoking’s addictiveness and health risks led to his COPD and lung cancer.
