Smoker’s Addiction Drove Her Cigarette Use Until Cancer Surgery: Attorney in Tobacco Trial


Randy Rosenblum tells jurors that his client, Carmenza Merino, was so addicted to nicotine over the course of more than 30 years of smoking that she was unable to quit until the night before surgery to treat her mouth cancer. Merino, who lost parts of her jaw and tongue to the disease, is suing Philip Morris, claiming its concealment of smoking’s dangers led to her addiction and cancer.
