Allan Kaiser tells jurors that Thomas Hardin was so addicted to cigarettes that he unable to stop until nine years after he was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Hardin died in 2012. His wife, Joyce Hardin, is suing R.J. Reynolds, claiming its concealment of smoking’s dangers caused her husband’s addiction and fatal COPD.
